Making the most of the weather

What's on Rachel's needles?

It is a super day for knitting, isn’t it?!! Wet and cold outside. So that is what we should be doing today. Instead, Rach is making some more project bags. We first started selling them at the Capital Fibre Festival two weeks ago and they have been flying out the door.

I am sure there will be time to finish off these gorgeous socks (see picture). It has a heel flap and gusset and is knitted from the top down. The pattern is available from Anna Knitter Yarns and is her Helgen Socks knitting pattern. I'm loving the texture of the fabric.  The contrasting heel and toe is in "Dusty Miller" from the West Yorkshire Spinners Florist Collection. The 25% nylon content makes them so durable.

Rach is also working on a baby blanket using the superwash DMC Woolly for our soon to arrive niece. Working on two projects – a simple and complicated one – allows you to swap between one that requires concentration and one that doesn’t.

Make the most of a mix up – 30% off Eucalan

Our Eucalan supplier accidentally sent us a duplicate order, mostly 100ml bottles. We were offered a 30% discount so we took it. We are passing that on to you! (Discount is on ALL our Eucalan, while stock last!)

To use Eucalan, use a teaspoon (5ml) for hand washing or about twice that in the washing machine.
Eucalan does not require rinsing. It is also great for blocking.

Retail Store Update

We are extremely fortunate to have a lifestyle block in Greytown. The block already had sheds and buildings ideal for yarn dyeing and storage. We set up a large solar array last year, and together with a large vegetable garden and about 80 fruit trees we are incredibly self-sufficient. The land also provides us with an abundance of natural dyeing materials – flowers, roots, leaves which we use in our yarn dyeing.

The site is not yet well set up for retail. We always wanted to have a bricks and mortar store and we have taken steps towards that, working with the council to permit us to build and retail on our site. We are being patient as nothing happens quickly anymore.
